YOGA

Every class will be reflective of the bodies in the room and will consist of yoga postures and stretches as well as breathwork to challenge and restore the body and mind.

OUR MISSION

The intention is for each committed student to understand the way you live in your body day-to-day is reflective of how you feel in your body, and through mindful movement and breath, you gain acceptance and empowerment.

Why Yoga at Locomotion?

Every class will be reflective of the bodies in the room and will consist of yoga postures and stretches as well as breathwork to challenge and restore the body and mind. Our Teacher, Beth Cosi, will be using elements of Yin Yoga as well as deep therapeutic stretches to target the connective tissues; such as ligaments, bones, and even joints of the body- generally hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

What is Yin Yoga?

• slow and heavy
• passive and propped
• muscular dis-engagement
• understanding & applying Appropriate Edge
• Held for long periods and timed
• “Meditation for Movers”

Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to dynamic and muscular styles of movement that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of muscles. Yin is proven to lessen inflammation, encourage the healing cycle of Rest & Digest, lower cortisol levels, sharpen focus and create space in the mind for more creativity and prepare the body for more activity for more years.

When are Yoga Classes? What are the details?
  • Our Yoga program is a 6 week series of classes meeting 2X/Week starting on Saturday, January 6th and concluding Tuesday, February 13th.  Each class will be connected to the classes before and after it, so ideally you’ll be able to join us for all 12 Sessions.
  • The entire 6 week series (All 12 classes) costs only $145 for non-members and $125 for members!  Sign up by New Years Eve and get even more benefits (See Below).
  • If for some reason you can only make class from time to time we’ll allow drop in students for $18 ($15 for members).
  • Students are invited to add the Locomotion Fitness 6 Week Nutrition Challenge (Regular $115, you pay $92) that begins on January 6th and runs concurrently with the Yoga series. Get 6 Weeks of meal plans by a registered dietitian with grocery lists, tons of recipes, and lots more.

  • 5 min Integration / Breathwork

Saturday mornings at 10:15am (~45 min)

**The first class (Saturday January 6th) will start at Noon, immediately following our Nutrition Challenge Kickoff seminar. All other Saturday classes will start at 10:15am.**

Saturday’s Class will include many of the elements of Tuesdays class with space for longer held floor work and more Standing Series (not fast, but more flowy/expansive). Because it is open to Drop-in students, it will be less formally structured, but integrate what we are working on from Tuesdays experience.
