Congratulations to our February Member of the Month – Ben Iaria!
Ben has been familiar with CrossFit and the Cohen’s since he was a little kid. We’re so proud to have him as a member of Locomotion Fitness now, at 21 years old. He works in construction – so he’s early to rise and off right in time for 5 o’clock traffic, but still he commutes from Mt.P to Park Circle 3 times a week to train with us. We call that awesome commitment! He’s kind-hearted and a lot of fun!
We caught up with Ben for a quick Q&A about his CrossFit Journey. Check out his responses below and say hi next time you see him at the 6:30 evening class!
Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
A: “I first started CrossFit in highschool, continued it throughout, then stopped for a short time after graduation. About a year ago my Mom saw Coach Jay was taking on personal training clients. I started seeing him once a week to train together – in his backyard. While training with him there, he told me about the plan to open Locomotion Fitness. I was on board right away and the rest is history.”
Q: What was your first impression? How has that changed?
A: “First impression?? hmmm… that CrossFit people are crazy?!? I suppose that changed after seeing all different people working out at all different levels, I realized they were really pretty normal and not so crazy.”


Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: “My First bright spot would have to be when we were finding One Rep Maxes and I hit a Personal Record of a 325 pound Back Squat and a 345 pound Deadlift. That day felt awesome!”
Q: What are you working on now?
A: Currently I’m working on losing weight, getting stronger and faster.
Q. What’s your favorite Locomotion Memory?
A: My two favorite locomotion memories are the First Annual Holiday Party – which was an absolute blast!! And the Special Olympics Row Raiser with a team of 10 members from our awesome community. That was a lot of fun for a great cause!
