Congrats to our December Member of the Month – Justin Beinkampen!!

Justin is a dedicated, hard-working, fun-loving, all-around great guy.  We are very lucky to have someone as committed to himself and others in our gym family.  He’s crushing things in and out of the gym and we are crazy proud of how far he has come! Check out Justin’s story in his own words below!

Q: What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

A: I came to CrossFit for the group/team atmosphere I had been searching for since College.  I heard about Jay and the “Loco Fam” from my buddy who had trained with him years ago downtown.  I wasn’t able to get the results I wanted on my own and needed someone to coach me.

Q: What was your first impression?  How has that changed?

A: From the first meeting with Jay and Emma I had a gut feeling that they were great people.  I thought it was cool that they were not only answering my questions but they were actually interviewing me!  That told me this was not just a business for them.

Fast forward six months later.  The atmosphere is exactly what I wanted.  Great coaching and a team environment for the workouts.  The biggest surprise/value for me was the Nutritional Plan & Coaching I have received from Christie.  If you are not eating correctly you’re doing yourself a disservice.  I have failed myself for many years with a poor diet and bad eating habits.

I now understand that I cannot out train a bad diet.  With their coaching I’m living my best life and feel a sense of accountability that I haven’t felt in over two decades.

Q: What was your first “bright spot”?
A: It was the way I started to feel.  Despite having a 4 month old, I felt rested, had more energy and Locomotion was making me a better husband & father.
Q: What are you working on now?

A: Continuing to lower my body fat and increase skeletal muscle.

Doing this by meal prepping, getting to the gym 3-4 times a week consistently, staying active on my days off, and stretching/rolling muscles daily.
Q: What’s your favorite Locomotion Memory?
A: It’s always seeing the joy/relief/surprise of a member when they hit a Personal Record or loose that extra pound.  And it always comes after a little “tweak” from a coach or louder cheering from the other members.  That’s awesome to see and what life is all about.
Thanks Justin!! See you in the gym!
