Congratulations to Anne Lawless our February member of the month!!
Anne is a truly remarkable individual and a true LOCO OG (circa 2019). Even during early morning class hours, she has a great attitude and is always eager to help others. Her love for animals is evident in the way she treats them and dedicates her time to helping them. She is always looking for ways to support her community, a true team player. Additionally, Anne is known to bring friends along to workout, making fitness a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone. Anne is a ray of light in our Loco Fam and makes a positive impact wherever she goes. We feel very lucky to have her with us! PS. We’ve also heard she throws a mean street party, so if you haven’t already, you should probably introduce yourself to Anne soon…

Here’s a little bit more about Anne :
1. How long have you been a member at Loco?
Since May-ish of 2019. The 1st WOD I did was Murph as a drop in just cause that was what I was used to with my former CF box. Loco had me after that.
2. What is your favorite thing about being a Loco athlete?
The people. Community. The supportive environment. The coaching is pretty darn great too.
3. What group fitness offerings do you typically participate in at Loco? Do you have a favorite? Discuss.
Typically an early morning person for CrossFit or BootCamp. Like the strength building in CrossFit and the endurance of BootCamp. I also do love the Jesses for yoga, anytime, whether flow, relaxation or power.
4. How would you describe the community at Loco?
Supportive. Welcoming. Fun. Nothing like fellow Loco-ers cheering you on and laughing along the way.
5. What advice do you have for someone who is intimidated by group fitness?
Nothing to be intimidated by at Loco. Jump in. You’ll find the support and welcome to be so refreshing. One of the greatest joys is the community and support you’ll find at Loco.
6. Favorite music to sweat to?
Um. As long as its loud and something that might make you want to dance like no one is watching, I’m good with it.
7. Favorite movement/workout?
That’s a hard one. I like it all. Anything that presents a challenge with a sense of accomplishment on the flipside is what I enjoy most.
8. Is there a member of the LocoFam that inspires and motivates you to be better? Feel free to give them a shoutout!
Jamo. If you know me you’ve heard me say, ‘Jamo makes everything okay’. Every time. All the time.
9. Favorite post-workout meal?
Favorite would be some yummy breakfast like eggs, bacon, EVO bread, good butter. But 99.9% of the time it’s a smoothie with grass fed protein power, flax seed, spinach, almond milk, almond butter and a banana mised in a vitamix.
10. What fitness-related goals do you have for 2023?
Combo of building and improving strength, mobility and endurance and cardio.
11. Describe your athletic abilities in five words or less.
I want to be better.
12. Give us your background story – Try to be brief (you can talk about anything from education to career, to pets, to family, to hobbies, etc).
Grew up in Atlanta. Move to CHS the 1st time in 2007 to work on the redevelopment of the northern tip of the Navy Yard with The Noisette Company. When the world fell apart economically and commercial real estate development was in the tank, moved to Hilton Head where we grew up going for vacations and my parents lived for 30+ years. Thought I’d be back in CHS in no time but stayed for almost 10 years. Came back in 2019 to work with some of the most amazing people I had the good fortune to work with at Noisette with Cityvolve. Love what we do working primarily on urban in-fill redevelopment projects.
Love my family. Nothing better, ever. Loved my dogs Minnie and Biggie, both of whom have gone on to great things in heaven, Biggie just last week. There will be more canines in my future as well as a feline the next time around I feel sure. Love volunteering at Hailie Hill Animal Sanctuary – nothing like giving back to all of the animals that need a little love. Love the friendships I enjoy, new and decades old. Life brings unexpected twists but the other side of those challenges can be pretty great.
