Gymnastics Course In A Nutshell

Why A Gymnastics Course?

I understand your frustration in gymnastics. I’ve spent over 2 years grinding in the hardcore Gymnastics Strength Training before realizing that Einstein was really right...out of the clutter is where you find simplicity.

This course is what I wish it would be:

  • FUN in a GROUP environment
  • Complementary to Group Class aka our awesome CrossFit group classes! (I had to do my course as the only thing…it was a double-edged sword!)
  • Guaranteed Results (I can’t guarantee a pull-up…but I can guarantee you’ll be MUCH closer than figuring it out on your own…oh what a decade can teach…)
  • Scalability Options (I would’ve stopped butterfly kipping LONG AGO – oh, how taxing they are…I would’ve exploited ALL the rows and push-up variations instead of starring at the bar or ground)
  • Energizing (No death grind – just Jamo for an hour – and that’s the anti-death grind!)

In the last post we discussed Motor Learning and why and how it increases performance.

This post we’ll discuss the Why, How, and What our Gymnastics Specialty Course starting July 17th will literally be about!

Why THIS Course is Beneficial

  • Simplest Way to Increase Performance is Through Drilling Mechanics Consistently
    • Proprioception is knowing where your body is when you move. Gymnastics is ALL ABOUT THIS. What’s it transfer to? EVERYTHING!!!
  • Decrease Symptoms of Soreness
    • Do you like being sore? No one does!
    • Increase Proprioception, Increase muscles abilities to relax and contract. Simple 🙂
  • Increase all Physical Motor Learning Capabilities (Performance)
    • The more we can relate movement to other movement, the easier it is to learn anything and everything!
  • Exploit Pull-ups in ALL Workouts
  • Exploit Push-ups in ALL Workouts
    • Including Burpees (we won’t do one)
  • Increase Confidence
    • You will do things you’ve never thought you could. We’ll smash those barriers!
    • The more we do. The more confident we’ll become!
  • Increase Reaction Time (Which Increases Performance!)
  • Increase Range of Motion
    • The magic is in the movement!
  • Increase the FUN Factor
    • You don’t know ‘FUN’ unless you’ve been to one of our Group classes.
    • This is all about ‘FUN’ and the work is but a byproduct of it!

Consistency and Mechanics in Unlimited Amount of Variations…We simply cannot become bored in Fitness and LEARNING our own amazing bodies!

How This Course Will Go – What to Expect – TUESDAYs

Tuesdays will be Strength Emphasis. And I follow the 10 Laws of Strength from Louie Simmons. I’ll write a blog post on it later :).

  • 6:30-6:40 PMWarm-up Upper Body Emphasis
    • The video is where the warm-up is from. We’ll do a variation. Live it. Love it. Learn it.
    • Floss your teeth? Good. Floss your Shoulders every time you workout!
  • 6:40-7:00 PMPull-up Progression
    • Strict Variations – BUDDY SYSTEM
    • We’ll Exploit Methods of Body Building to change the angle and do all kinds of variations of rows.
    • Lats are Wings – We’ll wake them up!
  • 7:00-705 PM – Discuss and Set-up for Push-ups
    • Review Bright Spots and Identify Progress!
    • Set up Boxes and Bands for Part 2 of the workout!
  • 7:05-7:25 PMPush-up Progressions
    • Too good for push-ups? Think again! We’ll LOVE the box progressions and hone that technique.
    • We’ll do LOTs of accessories with the Band in all kinds of variations
    • You’ll get to work on those Triceps yet!
    • This is our opportunity to give the shoulders all kinds of therapeutic love and increase performance while staying moving!
  • 7:25-7:30 PMBright Spots
    • We have made SIGNIFICANT change in just an 1 hour
    • Let’s celebrate it and talk about what we learned, missed and what we can do better next time!

How This Course Will Go – What to Expect – Thursdays

Tuesdays will be Strength & Conditioning Emphasis. From the Mothership we will be doing a variation of this beast of a warm-up!

  • 6:30-6:40 PM – Warm-up Lower Body Emphasis
    • The video is where the warm-up is from. Don’t worry. We’ll have some…not all 🙂
    • Floss your teeth? Good. Floss your Hips every time you workout!
  • 6:40-7:00 PM – Lower Body Awareness
    • Ladder Agility Drill Progressions
    • Plate Agility Drill Progressions
    • Bands Drills
    • We will build over the course of 6 weeks so you will feel VERY confident hitting box jumps…eventually! FUN is key! The key to the box jump is not the jump 😉
  • 7:00-705 PM – Discuss Progress and Awareness
    • Review Bright Spots and Identify Progress!
    • This is FUN let’s get ready for some MORE!
  • 7:05-7:25 PM – Push + Pull + Accessories
    • Want Pull-ups? Good. Do More Pull-ups!
    • We’ll do kipping drills in circuits and get comfortable in seemingly foreign territory.
    • We’ll do a different circuit on Thursdays AMRAP style with a target range in mind. Flow is goal. Flow you shall know!
    • We’ll go ALL kinds of variations depending on our progressions!
    • This is our opportunity to give the shoulders all kinds of therapeutic love and increase performance while staying moving!
    • Our goal is to Buddy up on Handstands by the end of the Course…In circuits!
  • 7:25-7:30 PM – Bright Spots
    • We have made SIGNIFICANT change in just an 1 hour
    • Let’s celebrate it and talk about what we learned, missed and what we can do better next time!
    • HOMEWORK Assignments! Yup! We will have homework for the weekend (5:00 a day too much? Excuses. Destroy them.)
