Movement Monday: The Shoulder Press

As you dig out your holiday decorations think about how useful it would be to easily grab those big boxes on the top shelf in the garage. Understanding overhead mechanics is what the shoulder press is all about.  Shoulder dysfunction contributes to poor posture, and tension in the shoulders and neck.  This will eventually lead to headaches, trouble getting comfortable while sleeping and a slew of other problems.

The strict press does a great job of reinforcing proper shoulder position as well as strengthening the muscle and connective tissue necessary for good shoulder function.  Here’s how to do a shoulder press the right way:
