We’re thrilled that it’s summer, a time generally filled with sun, laughter, and vacation! The summer of 2020, however, we know is still a challenging period for everyone, learning how to navigate this “new normal.” This month, let’s talk about the people who support you- we’ll call them your “personal board of directors.” These are the really important people in your life; they’re your lighthouses, and their support can help you stay on track and achieve a level of success that you didn’t think was possible.
We recommend that you fill these four critical roles:
Life partner or best friend- a spouse, significant other, or “till-the-end” friend. This is the person who’s always in your corner, no matter what.
Professional mentor- someone who guides you in your career. This person helps you become better at your job and grow professionally.
Spiritual guide- this person (maybe religious, maybe not) influences you to work on yourself mentally and emotionally.
Fitness coach- now, I want you to put a big check mark beside this one, because we’ve got you covered! Health and fitness are critical elements in life, and we’re looking out for you!
It’s important to assign the roles above to people in your life, and lean on them to get you through challenges. And guess what: you’re going to fill these roles for other people, too!
Think about it. I bet you’re a best friend or mentor to someone- or maybe you’re even a spiritual guide. The point is that you’re never alone if you take some time to identify the people who fill these roles in your life! And if someone you know needs a coach to help them get back on track with fitness and health, say the word. Anyone on your board is a big deal to us, and we’d love to help.
Vacation Time?
When summer rolls around, we know people like to head on vacation, but we don’t want you to stop making progress on your goals. Keep us in the loop on what you’ll be doing. We’d love to sit down with you and a plan for your vacation.
We don’t expect you to load up 500 lb. of dumbbells and a squat rack when you head to the lake, but we can help you stay fit while you’re away from home!

Before you travel on your summer vacation, book an Athlete Check-In with us so we can help you stay on track. You’ve crushed it in the gym, and we want to hold onto that momentum. Your goals are important to us, and we can keep you moving toward them even on vay-cay!
Just so you have something in your back pocket, here’s a travel workout you can do almost anywhere:
CHILD’S PLAY
Locate a playground and perform 8 rounds of the following:
Shuttle sprints for 40 seconds (about 25ft, or any short distance)
Pull-ups or body rows for 40 seconds (swings can sub as rings for “swing rows”)
Push-ups for 40 seconds (elevate hands or feet, as needed)
That’s a 16-minute total body workout that will get your heart rate up before you relax for the day. You can, of course, make adjustments so it’s harder or easier- and we can help with that, too! If you’re interested in some additional ideas, check-out our blog on working out while on vacation.
You’ve earned some time off this summer, so take your vacation, relax, soak up some sun…but we’re going to keep you on track! Remember: you put us on your personal board of directors, and we’re looking out for you.
